Amazing summer wine deal: Capital Grille “Generous Pour” deal lets you drink eight excellent wines –red & white — for just $28

This is undoubtedly the best wine drinkers’ deal of the summer. Starting today and running through the end of August, The Capital Grille is offering its annual Generous Pour celebration. This year,  The Capital Grille’s master sommelier, George Miliotes, has selected another solid line-up of eight wines — red and white — ranging from a classic Napa Valley sauvignon blanc to a juicy, well structured Mantanzas Creek Sonoma merlot to a private label 2007 Santa Barbara syrah that I can only imagine Miliotes purchased at a stellar price specifically with a Generous Pour in mind.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Order the Generous Pour from your waiter.
  2. If you are in the Dallas restaurant, hope he sends wine director Nathan Crumpton over (the guy knows his wines).
  3. Choose as many or as few wines of the eight selections as you wish. Start white, start white, start in the middle…no one cares
  4. When your glass is empty, move on to the next wine. Or just continue with the one you like best.
  5. As long as you stay sober, the wines will keep flowing.

“The whole idea is to reintroduce people to The Capital Grille and show them that we value wine as much as we value food,” Crumpton told me when I previewed the Generous Pour offerings last week.

“We have more than 800 wine selections here, which is nearly double the number we had just four years ago. Most of the wines on the Generous Pour menu this year will sell out, so when the program ends, so do these wines.”

You absolutely cannot beat this deal. In most restaurants, the same glass of Arrowood Reserve Speciale cabernet on the Generous Pour list, for example, would run you more than $28.

Want to double up your savings? Here’s an insider’s tip: pair the Generous Pour deal with The Capital Grille’s $35 Restaurant Week dinner, August 10-16 (but likely longer). Reservations aren’t required for the Generous Pour offering, but you’ll need one for the Restaurant Week dinner; snag one of those beginning July 13.

Generous Pour is available at all DFW area Capital Grilles. 500 Crescent Court, Dallas, (214) 303-0500.
