What: Dallas-area diners are invited to a wine-centric dinner at Abacus featuring Melville and Brewer-Clifton wines. Diners will enjoy a four-course meal specially prepared by Kent Rathbun’s culinary team to complement the selected wines, while Stephen Janes, Sales Director, Partner and General Manager for Melville, educates and answers questions. Courses and wine pairings include:

Shrimp corn dogs with lemon-hatch green chile marmalade

BBQ fried oysters with pickled pearl onions, Maytag cream and applewood smoked bacon

Who: Since opening in 1999, Kent Rathbun’s Abacus restaurant has received numerous accolades and has been catapulted into the local, regional and national spotlight with industry recognition from Mobile Four-Stars, AAA Four Diamonds, DiRONA, a Five Star rating from the Dallas Morning News and the “Most Popular Restaurant in Dallas” rating by Zagat Survey in 2007 and 2008.  Abacus has been featured in publications such as Elle, Southern Living, Veranda, Texas Monthly, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Esquire Magazine, Rosie Magazine and Wine Spectator.

Brewer-Clifton was formed in the early ‘90s by ex-surfer and rock singer Steve Clifton and ex-French professor Greg Brewer. Together they focus on crafting site-expressive wines that capture the essence of their Santa Rita Hills vineyard. Brewer is also the winemaker at Melville, a Santa Rita Hills winery dedicated to estate grown pinot noir, chardonnay and syrah.
